Pastured Pork
EcoCulture Farms Pork:
Our heritage breed Red Wattle and other variety pigs have the space and freedom to run, jump, and frolic in the fields, and indeed they often do. We use a rotational grazing pattern with all of our livestock in order to keep them moving. They never stay in one spot for too long, allowing them access to new areas to explore while mitigating any damaging effect they may potentially have on the land. We supplement our pigs feed with kitchen scraps from local restaurants, our home kitchen, and with forage crops grown in between our grape vines. Our piggies get to express the entire potential of their piginess.
EcoCulture Farms livestock are all fed only non-GMO, Non-Soy, non-Corn, no antibiotics type feed which is nutritious for them and you. We typically raise to order which takes them approximately 6 months to get to the right weight, meat quality and maturity.
How it all works:
You basically buy a share (1/2 or Whole) in the pig by placing an order on our website or calling Cory. What does a share consists of (you ask):
- As each pig varies in weight, the approximate finished weight of an EcoCulture pig provides approximately 180 lbs. (90 lbs. for a half share) of packaged pork. When selecting your cuts, you work with our butcher to select sausage and bacon seasonings, thicken of meat cuts, and types of cuts.
- You select a half or whole pig as wholes or halves ($10 per pound, finished weight).
- If you are purchasing a ½ or whole pig, be prepared: A standard freezer typically does not have enough storage space to house a half of a pig with your other food as well. You will generally need a deep freezer to store the finished quantity of meat.
This is because we do not butcher our pigs until all of the meat is sold. Please fill out our form below to be added to our waitlist and to start the process of ordering your pig!
